What is a Chemical Peel?

Chemical skin peels and other skin treatments have been performed for many years to treat a variety of skin disorders. Conditions such as sun damage, wrinkling, and uneven pigmentation may be treated with these non-invasive techniques. There are many different techniques and regimens for the application of chemical-peeling and skin treatment medications. In some situations, chemical peels may be performed at the time of other surgical procedures.  Chemical skin peels and other skin treatment procedures are not an alternative to skin tightening surgery when indicated.

What is included in a Chemical Peel?

Chemical Peels are customized for each individual patient. A Chemcial Peel, after careful skin analysis, skin typing and assiessment of acceptable down time, acid solutions or fruit enzymes are formulated for individualized treatment and can be combined with other facial rejuvenation procedures.  Common therapies used include hydroxy acids, glycolic, salicylic and lactic, Jessner, and TCA.

How long is the Chemical Peel treatment?

A Chemical Peel will be approximately 30 minutes long.

How often should I get a Chemical Peel?

A Chemical Peel is recommended every 4-6 weeks for optimal skin health.
